I AM NOT LOST

I am not lost, even though you think am,

I am still right here by your side,

I may not see things the way you do,

But I still see the things you do,

Believe me! I am not deaf!!

I still hear what you and others say,

Even though it's hard to listen too sometimes

I can still smile, you can see it if you look,

I don't see you smile that often these days,

Please smile more, I will if you will?

I am not confused,

I can still understand most things,

Even if most think I cant,

Don't be fooled by these eyes of mine

Look beyond them and you will see,

I still have feelings,

I still get scared and worry so much,

I fear for you and the family,

Not so much for me, but you,

I still LOVE YOU, so very much

I may not show it as much these days,

You cannot see or feel my heart,

But I can, and its still yours and always will be,

I do still weep,

I weep not for me, but for you,

I weep for all with this awful dementia and their families,

But all this I can still do,

So, you see, I am not lost

I am still right here by your side
