Poems of experience
OH HOW I WISH
Lying there, dreading closing my eyes,
Knowing I will hear the cries,
Of all those lost to this disease,
Tossing and turning with such unease,
Knowing that when I sleep,
Into my world dementia creeps,
With its blackened talons that stretch so far,
Affecting all, it doesn't care,
Who you are, or where you live
Who you pray to, with so much to give,
It will take it all away,
Slowly, silently with much dismay,
Night terrors, apparently, are their name,
But we know who is really to blame,
It is dementia`s fault, there is no doubt,
That makes you cry, scream and shout,
Oh, how I long for the day,
When I can wish all this away,
Return my life, as it once was,
With Laughter, happiness, and because,
We deserve to live all our lives,
In peace, and harmony, without this strife,
Of dementia`s terrors we should be free,
All this I wish for you and me
